Today we show you some pages from the photo album of a real Fiat 850 enthusiast; our long-standing customer Rainer Derksen.
As an 18-year-old trainee at Fiat, he owned his first 850 Special, which at the time wore the licence number E-MY 360. Years later he was still thinking back to the vehicle and last year he finally fulfilled his dream of a "new" Fiat 850.
The car, which dates from 1968, had been in Germany for 21 years and had only run 17,500 km to date. It was only used for Fiat meetings. Accordingly, it is in perfect original condition, unwelded and has the original paint.
"As I opened the door, all the memories came back, it actually smells like mine 47 years ago."
Rainer is an experienced master mechanic and remembers all the technical data and properties of the model. After some parts such as oil seals were replaced, the little Fiat was ready to go.
It received the same license number as Rainer's first Fiat - but of course with an "H" (for "historic vehicle") at the end.
By the way:the car received a grade of 1 from the appraiser: "Flawless vehicle, on which no (!) Defects in optics or technology can be found even with the most exacting inspection. Represents the absolute highest level of what is technically feasible today".
